This two-week journey through Sri Lanka is a rich mix of cultural immersion, soft adventure, and natural beauty.
This two-week journey through Sri Lanka is a rich blend of cultural immersion, soft adventure, and natural beauty, designed to take you far beyond the typical tourist experience. From hiking scenic sections of the famous Pekoe Trail through tea plantations and misty hill country, to exploring ancient ruins, sacred temples, and vibrant local communities, every day offers a deeper connection to the heart of Sri Lanka.
Along the way, you’ll step into family homes to share home-cooked meals and hands-on cooking experiences, gaining insight into local traditions and everyday life. You’ll also visit some of the country’s most iconic cultural sites, including the breathtaking Sigiriya rock fortress and the remarkable Dambulla Cave Temple, with its centuries-old Buddhist cave shrines. Combined with wildlife encounters, beautiful scenery, and a relaxed pace of travel, this journey is as meaningful as it is memorable.
This is an active trip, and a reasonable level of fitness is recommended to get the most out of the experience. The itinerary includes four hikes with plenty of stairs, including two consecutive days walking 10–15km. While the pace is relaxed and supportive, we recommend training in advance to build your stamina and break in your hiking shoes and daypack.
The trip also includes cycling and kayaking activities, both of which are beginner-friendly.

The following is not included in the cost of the tour:
If you’re travelling solo not to worry, you’re in good company! Many of our travellers join solo and our trips are designed to feel welcoming and supportive from the moment you arrive. It’s a great way to meet like-minded women, and friendships often form quickly along the way.
When on tour, we have you sharing with different women from the group at different times - great for group bonding and also for alleviating any potential annoyances that may occur as a result of travelling with the same person throughout a tour.
Or, if you’d prefer your own room, this option is available for an additional supplement. You can select your rooming preference at the time of booking or reach out to us for more information.
The tour starts in Negmobo on 2 September with a group meeting at 6.00pm. Arrival transfers from Colombo airport are included. The tour ends on 15 September. After breakfast, a group transfer will be provided from Galle to Colombo Airport, with an estimated drop-off time of around 10:30-11.00 AM.
All AW trips are accompanied by one of our experienced Tour Leaders. Their role is to take the hassle out of your travels and help you get the most out of your experience, while embracing the Adventurous Women way.
You’ll also be joined by a Sri Lankan tour guide who will share local insights, hidden gems and interesting stories about the places you visit along the way. Local specialist guides may also included for specific site visits.
We do our best to accommodate dietary requirements and food allergies on every tour.
Please provide as much detail as possible in advance so we can advise what level of catering is possible. In some cases, we may recommend bringing additional snacks, and for severe allergies, we’ll discuss any necessary medical precautions prior to the trip.
We’ll stay in a mix of hotels and guesthouses throughout the trip. In smaller towns, some properties may be simpler in style, but all rooms include ensuite bathrooms with hot showers, and accommodation is twin-share with a maximum of two people per room.
We will travel in a private bus for most of the trip. While on safari, we will be in open-air jeeps And one highlight of the journey will be a train ride of approximately 3-4 hours, offering a memorable way to experience the countryside.
While roads in Sri Lanka are generally in good condition, travel times can sometimes be longer than expected due to local conditions. If you are prone to motion sickness, we recommend bringing appropriate medication from home.
Travel insurance is mandatory for AW's international trips. We recommend taking out a policy early. Most good travel insurance policies offer an upgrade option to cover trip cancellation and interruption, which can come in handy.
If you are looking for a recommendation, we suggest Go Insurance. Through an affiliation with this insurer, AW receives a financial benefit. As a way of passing value back to our guests, if you purchase a policy for an AW trip through Go Insurance using this link, you may be eligible for our rebate offer.
