Inside Cambodia- A meaningful journey with Adventurous Women

Inside Cambodia - A meaningful journey with Adventurous Women

Cambodia may be best known for its temples, but there is so much more to discover. Adventurous Women's Cambodia Adventure goes beyond the surface, revealing the country's vibrant culture, diverse landscapes and incredibly warm people.

Led by AW owner Marie, who brings both Cambodian roots and Australian perspectives, this journey offers a deeper, more personal connection to the places and people you encounter. Read on to learn more about what makes AW's Cambodia Adventure for women so unique.

Go beyond the tourist trail

Adventurous Women trips are all about providing an experience to remember- not only seeing the highlights of a place, but forging a connection and deep, nuanced understanding of its culture and people. The best way to do this? Get off the beaten track!

Our Cambodia women's group tour does just that. Here are a few of the highlights:

Angkor Archaeological Park - with a twist: Of course we visit Angkor Wat, but we do it differently: avoiding the crowds, exploring lesser-known temples, and taking the time to truly appreciate the scale, beauty and spiritual significance of this ancient wonder. We'll also spend a day hiking in the birthplace of the Khmer empire- a special day out that combines nature and history.

Battambang- culture and countryside: Discover Cambodia's creative soul in Battambang, a town full of charm, art and French-era history. We also explore the surrounding countryside by bike, visiting local communities and learning about rural life.

Kratie- river dolphins and slow travel: In Kratie, we'll kayak along a quiet stretch of the Mekong, through flooded forests and past sandy islands. With luck, you'll spot endangered Irrawaddy dolphins in their natural habitat. Add in a historic hotel stay and exploring quiet neighbourhoods- this is a great stop to slow down and enjoy the pace of Cambodian life.

Phnom Penh- old and new: Explore Cambodia's capital through a thoughtful lens, as we visit sites that speak to the country's complex history and its vibrant present. From markets to monuments, you'll gain insight into a city that continues to evolve.

Cultural connections that stay with you: This trip is rich with real human connection. Share a meal during a countryside cooking class, visit a family home on Tonle Sap Lake, attend a live performance by Phare (Cambodia's circus arts school), meet local artisans at the Satcha Handicraft Center and much more

The power of travelling with a local

Marie, your tour leader and the owner of Adventurous Women, was born and raised in Cambodia. Now living in Australia, she brings a unique dual perspective - deeply rooted in Cambodian culture, while also understanding the curiosity and mindset of Australian travellers.

Marie's passion for her homeland is infectious. Whether she's translating during a village conversation, sharing personal stories, or guiding you through a hidden temple trail, Marie brings warmth, insight and authenticity to every step of the journey.

And in case you haven't met Marie, she is a foodie and a qualified Chef. One can expect to eat very well on this tour and to experience Cambodia through its unique flavours and the rituals and traditions that much of the food represents.
